What Are The Advantages Of Drip Irrigation For Orchard Irrigation?

(1) Sprinkler irrigation: suitable for hilly, sloping, and grassy orchards with uneven gardens. There are two types of sprinkler irrigation: fixed or mobile. The height of the sprinkler is on the top of the canopy, in the center of the canopy, around the trunk and so on. The advantage of this method is that it saves water and labor. In addition to irrigation, it also takes into account some spraying, fertilizing, and hormone spraying operations, and can prevent frost in spring and high temperature in summer, increasing fruit tree yield by 5-10 percent . Adopting this method requires special equipment and requires more investment. The facilities remain in the orchard for a long time and are not easy to care for. In recent years, the application has become less and less.

(2) Drip irrigation: It is the latest water-saving irrigation method worthy of promotion. Drip irrigation can provide continuous water supply for the local root system, the soil structure is well maintained, and the water status is stable. This method saves more water and labor than sprinkler irrigation, and has a significant effect on preventing secondary soil salinization, which can increase yield by 20-30 percent . It is especially suitable for orchards with severe drought and water shortage. Drip irrigation system consists of water pump, filter, pressure regulating valve, flow regulator, water channel and dripper. The frequency and amount of drip irrigation depend on soil moisture and water requirements of fruit trees. During spring drought, drip irrigation can be applied every day, usually once every 2 to 3 days. 3 to 6 hours of irrigation each time, each dripper drips 2 kg per hour. The first drip irrigation service makes the soil moisture saturated, and later the soil moisture can be kept at about 70 percent of the maximum water holding capacity of the field.
